Venice

Venice is lovely, and a welcome change from the craziness of Naples. It was the last city I planned to spend in Italy, and I spent most of my time there just walking around, making friends, eating a lot of gelatto and window shopping.

Day I

A museum dedicated to building Leonardo da Vinci's inventions, based off of his notes and sketches. Some. Of them were interactive, so you could understand how they worked. Some were very simple, some were complex, such as attempts at tank and submarine designs, and some were just suprising, such as a man and women's wedding attire.

The flying machine room

Scuba diving gear

An emergency bridge

An exhibit celebrating violin making in Venice, some of the instruments date back from the 1500's.

Gallerie Dell'Accademia, containing the most important paintings of Venice from its origins up to the 18th century.

Ceiling detail, the central small round shapes are angels's faces, and each one is unique.

Titian

Piazzetta San Marco

Basilica Di San Marco

The Marciana Library

The Ducal Palace

Day 2!
Spencer, a fellow traveller from the hostel, and I got off at the wrong stop and we had an hour before we could get back to Venice. After coffee, we went on a walk around the city, called Treviso.

Back in Venice, San Geremia
