Guane, Barichara, San Gil, and Curiti

One morning we got up early and visited four towns a couple of hours drive south from Bucaramanga, Guane, Barichara, San Gil, and Curiti. We were in big ass ant eating country (hormigas culonas are a popular snack). Guane is tiny, and famous mostly for its church, which is dedicated to Saint Lucia, patron saint of sight. Barichara has a reputation for being the prettiest pueblo in Colombia. San Gil is the place to go for outdoor sports such as paragliding, kayaking, and whitewater rafting. While in San Gil, we visited Parque Gallineral. Curiti isn't really known for anything other than being a small, pretty pueblo.

Guane

An amulet representing sight to be left as an offering in Santa Lucia's shrine. About thirty years ago, a cousin was brought here as an infant because he was born legally blind. A few weeks later, he could see.

Called the "The Happy Marriage", these two giant trees of different species have grown into each other over the years, joined as one.

When ants attack!!!
